Good but with frustrations

Helpful app - quick to find recipes and the cook mode is useful. The collections feature is vital for me (it would be useful to be able to select an order in which these are displayed besides alphabetical – the only way I can get my most-used collection to the top of the list is to rename it something odd (“a vegetarian”).

As another reviewer has said, reviews of recipes often have useful suggestions for modifications so not being able to access these is a pain.

I also find it surprising that there is no share function. If I want to share a recipe I’ve come across with someone (often my sons at uni) I can only do that by saving the recipe, going to the website and copying the URL.

Hi Tony,

You can now see and add user comments! We have listened and over the past few months our developers have been working hard to bring you this much-loved feature. If you’re enjoying the Good Food app we’d really appreciate updating your review in the app store.

Best wishes,
BBC Good Food Team.

My ‘go to’ site

I’ve used Good Food guide pretty much since it’s inception having previously bought the magazines and also the little compilation books they brought out which were very handy.
I still love to look through cook books but if I’ve ingredients that need using up, it’s ideal to key them into the search thingy and see what to use them on.
Quite often I’ll go on Google for an idea of what to cook and the sight of Good Food in the search results generally drags me in as I know it will be easy to find something decent to cook and won’t be some annoying American or Australian blog full of advertising banners, flashing sponsored banners, etc, etc. Love it!

Sadly can’t read reviews.

I’ve used the website for years. The app certainly navigates around the recipe database very rapidly on the iPad and I’ve found recipes quicker than on the website. Others have complained about the adverts but this is no worse than on the website and I guess they need a revenue stream.

The biggest disappointment is that you can’t read the reviews on the recipes. The star rating is all well and good but I’ve always found the reviews contain many helpful suggestions for making or tweaking the recipes. This is to me an essential component missing from the app, hence only three stars.

Hi there, thanks again for your feedback. We have recently released a new version of the app that includes the ability to read and leave ratings and reviews in the app as well as a bunch of other improvements. Please install the most recent version and we'd love to hear your thoughts. Best wishes, BBC Good Food Team
